A Summary from our Fiftieth Reunion Chair:

True to form, a remarkable team of our energetic, competent 1960 classmates put together an incredible, four-day party -- named REDGLOW 5-0 -- to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our graduation from Wellesley. The prelude began on Thursday, June 4, where 70 of us, plus guests, gathered in Boston to tour the Seaport Area and South Boston, and generally to rejoice in coming together after so many years. On Friday, the full production was set in motion on campus where 188 classmates and 82 guests began a weekend of wining, dining, discussion groups, lectures, and relaxed conviviality as we renewed old friendships and made new ones.
Creativity was on display everywhere -- in the Redglow Gallery where our classmates' works from basket weaving to print making to poetry to sculpture were on display. It was in the first ever inter-class panel we organized titled I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar. And in our six workshops where we spoke about our experiences in areas ranging from the workplace, to volunteering, creativity, personal loss, new technology, and going green. And in the amazing talents of our pastoral and musical members, who put together an unforgettable, moving memorial service in Houghton Chapel for our 50 deceased classmates.
Summer thundershowers disappeared in time for the awesome Alumnae Parade, followed by the Alumnae Association Annual Meeting, where our class won the prize for the highest percentage of attendance (42%) and our mates Molly Sanderson Campbell and Bea McDonnell jointly won this year`s award in recognition of an alumna's dedicated service and exceptional commitment to Wellesley. We were all so proud!
And I still am. It was an event that exceeded my highest expectations -- all due to the talents and hard work that so many 1960'ers brought to bear. I always knew we were an exceptional group, and this proves it. Thanks so much! Vicki Holt Jaycox `60 |
